What I've Learned As a Mommy - 3

I have tried teething biscuits of all kinds...some are too messy (try getting dried sludge off of the table...ick), some are too hard, some are too soft....you get the point.

Xander likes Baby Mum-Mums sometimes, but as a treat I have discovered (thanks to my mother-in-law) Almond Windmills. They are made by 'Lil Dutch Maid Cookies and I get them at Dollar General. Not too much sugar....easy for
Xander to hold.....hard enough to gnaw on but soft enough to melt in his mouth.

And good for Mommies and brothers, too.

Yummy....or as Xander says, "Num, Num, Num."

Great Mommy Website

I have a new favorite Mommy website. It's called BluegrassMoms.

Check it out - especially the Fru-Gal segment and all the free stuff!!!

Enjoy and go wild. I have free samples coming and coming....

What I've Learned as a Mommy - 2

I have used a few different things for diaper rash but the best I've come across (and I slather it on when needed) is Auqaphor Healing Ointment by Eucerin.

Oatmeal baths are also soothing - especially for those who can get in the bathtub by themselves.
I don't even buy oatmeal bath. I take an old pair of hose and cut off from the knee down. I fill it with oatmeal and tie the open end in a knot. Then I put in the warm bath water. Works great.

I've seen enough butt rashes from my boys to know - and more to come, I'm sure.
Xander is only 10 months. Yikes.

What I've Learned as a Mommy

I'm starting a new segment on this blog. I'm going to call it "What I've Learned as a Mommy."

I'll update it at least once a week. Basically, it's going to be random thoughts and suggestions about parenting that pop into my head that I
think I should share. It's not that I'm all-knowing...but I sure have learned a heck of a lot after having two boys. So, here goes.

What I Have Learned as a Mommy - Part 1

  • Baby baths are bulky, hard to store, and often a pain in the pooty to use.
Put him in the bathtub or shower with you or your husband. It's easier because you get "washed off" if he has made you a mess, also (ex
: a nasty poop accident like we had this week). He also learns to play in water in a controlled environment and stops being afraid of water in his face. Downside...it's not a nice relaxing bath or shower for yourself and it's hard drying both of you off with a towel (so you often may drip dry for a bit) but you can pamper yourself another day. It's a nice bonding moment for you and the little one.

Busy Busy

I sure wish I had time to post on this site more - like I did last year. But, last year, I wasn't working. And I was pregnant with one boy around. Now, I'm working with two boys around. It makes a big difference.

I'll try to keep updated more....I hope.

For now, the boys are getting big. Xander is now 9 months old. Addison will be 5 in June.

Wow. Time flies.
